Who am I? cover
After a winding path through my academic and professional careers, Iโm currently an SDE at AWS on the EC2 Nitro team.
I started off as a Saxophone major at Penn State, transitioned into Engineering Science with a focus on Engineering Mechanics, wrote a thesis on the Effects of Print Orientation, Material, and Infill Density for 3D Printed Structures and got a job as an Electromechanical Engineer where I worked on developing mechanical and electrical test systems using a combination of CAD (mostly Solidworks) modeling, Arduino, and LabView equipment. After a couple of years I decided that wasnโt for me, so I decided to pursue a degree in Computational Data Science back at Penn State.
It was there I got an internship at AWS in the Commerce Platform (Billing) organization. I stayed until our team ended up moving on, and I briefly moved to Alexa Communications. In Comms, I didnโt have much time, but I did fix some issues related to Japanese names not being displayed in the correct order in conference calls so that was fun! I moved over to Microsoft Azure in the Cloud Data Sciences org for a while until I recently jumped back to AWS in EC2.
What do I do otherwise?
Outside of work, I spend quite a bit of time playing guitar recently got back into playing Saxophone on an Emeo For those curious, the guitars I use are GOC , Kiesel, Aristides (in build), and FM Guitars (in build). Iโm also a huge pedalboard nerd, so there will likely be some blogs coming concerning that. 2
As expected, I do enjoy video games (even though I donโt have much time to play them anymore), MTG, and Iโm trying to get into the Flesh and Blood TCG. Prior to the pandemic I enjoyed taking BJJ classes and would like to get back into that, however for now I started getting back into shape doing Crossfit. I have also recently started enjoying the great outdoors of the PNW via some car camping.
Where can you find me?
